Off to a flying start!

Well its been a great start to the project. We’ve already got 50% of the volunteers we need for the research group, and a lovely varied bunch of people they are too. The research group will be treated to a series of lectures, workshops and field trips to research the Cathedral’s history. The group will then either help to carry out further research or become trained as interviewers for our very exciting oral archive.

You don’t need any previous experience or even an association with the Cathedral, all you need is a passion for local heritage. Our first meeting is on Saturday 11th February at 12.00 at The Gibberd Room at The Metropolitan Cathedral. If you’re interested in the project but still have some questions feel free to get in touch or simply come along to our first meeting to hear more. Hope to see you there.

This blog will chart the progress of this exciting project to remember the first 50 years of one of our city's most important landmarks. Well day 1 means we have a great idea, some fantastically supportive partners, and some funds to help us realise this exciting project. The rest is a journey of discovery that we will share with you all as we go. Check in regularly on our progress and feel free to get in touch if you can help us capture the many memories that have been created by Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. All stories welcome, from the sublime to the ridiculous we are a broad church - and yes the pun was intended....
